Archaeological Museum in Oliveto Citra

The archaeological museum of the Sele Valley is housed in Oliveto Citra's castle. The castle is associated with the Norman period, though it may stand on an earlier fortified site.

The collection includes grave goods recovered during excavations of local necropolises: Samnite-style weapons and belts, women's ornaments and ceramics of different types and uses. A particularly interesting display reconstructs tomb XIII/1929, showing the skeleton, objects and funerary ornaments in the positions in which they were found.

Address: Castle of Oliveto Citra. Older versions of this guide listed a telephone number and opening hours, but these should be verified with the museum or the municipality before visiting.
