The museum is housed in the former convent of the Augustinian Hermits. Its collections follow the development of the area from prehistoric settlement through Lucanian and Roman Volcei.

The collections

Weapons, pottery, jewellery and objects from burials document everyday life, beliefs and social organisation. Displays from the sacred area of Santo Stefano are among the most distinctive sections.

Complete the visit

After the museum, continue through the historic centre to see archaeological remains integrated into the streets and buildings of modern Buccino.
